When Do You Need Bleachers Instead Of Chairs?
The question is not how many people are sitting. It is what they are looking at.
If guests are facing each other — a dinner, a reception, a conference — chairs are the right tool. If they are all facing the same thing, and that thing is happening at ground level, chairs stop working after about three rows. Everyone behind row three is watching the back of someone’s head.
Bleachers solve that by raising each row above the one in front. A tournament, a parade route, a graduation, a rodeo, a school demonstration — anything where the audience is watching rather than participating — works better tiered than flat.
