What Does An Outdoor Event Need Electrically?
Two things, and they are linked: something to make power, and something to spend it on.
Generators and power cover the supply — the generator, the distribution that splits it into usable circuits, the cable that carries it, and the ramps that stop that cable tripping people.
Climate control is usually the largest thing drawing on it — air conditioning, heating, evaporative cooling and fans.
They are one decision, not two. Climate control is the heaviest load at most events, so the size of your generator is largely decided by whether you are cooling a tent. Order them together or you will size one against the other twice.
How Do You Work Out What You Need?
List everything that plugs in. That is genuinely the method.
Lighting, sound, projection, catering, refrigeration, climate. Total the running load, then add headroom for startup surge — motors pull far more starting than running, which is what catches out an undersized generator when the AC kicks in.
Then the geography: how far is the generator from the things it feeds? Distance means cable, and cable means routes, and routes mean ramps where they cross a walkway.

Why Is Climate Control The Biggest Draw?
Because cooling air is physically expensive, and Houston asks a lot of it.
An air conditioner working against a July afternoon in a walled tent full of people draws more than your entire lighting rig. It also surges hard on startup. That single fact usually decides whether you need a small inverter generator or a mobile diesel unit.
It is also why walls matter. You cannot meaningfully air condition an open-sided tent — you would be cooling Houston. If AC is in the plan, sidewalls are too.
Heating is the same story in reverse, and Houston winter evenings catch people out more often than the summer does.
What About Noise?
A generator sits at your event by definition, so how loud it is matters.

How Do You Keep Cable Safe?
Any cable crossing a walkway gets a ramp. There is no version of this that is optional.
ACME stocks 5-channel cable protector ramps and ADA cable protector ramps — the ADA version has the gradient a wheelchair or walker can cross, which at a public event is usually a requirement rather than a nicety.
They also keep runs separated and organised, which is what makes a fault findable when something dies mid-event.
It is the cheapest line on an electrical order and the one that prevents the worst outcome.
Which Houston Events Need This Most?
Anything outdoors, and more of them than people expect.
Weddings on private land need power for lighting and sound and AC for the tent. Festivals need the most of everything — vendors, stages, refrigeration, all on a site with no supply.
Industrial sites and emergency deployments need both around the clock, where climate control is a welfare requirement rather than a comfort.
And the case nobody plans for: backup. A venue with mains can still lose it. For anything that cannot stop, a generator is insurance.
What Should You Book This With?
Electrical is the layer everything else depends on, so it is rarely a standalone order.
A tent decides the climate load. Lighting and AV decide the electrical load. Staging decides where the cable has to reach.
