Electrical Layout

Power planning for Houston events — load mapping, generator placement, and safe distribution so the lights, sound, and A/C never miss a beat.

Power Is the Utility Your Event Cannot Fake

Everything memorable at an event runs on electricity: the band, the lighting, the caterer’s warmers, the air conditioning that keeps a Houston tent comfortable in August. And unlike chairs or linens, power cannot be improvised on the day. ACME Party and Tent has planned event electrical layouts across Houston and Southeast Texas since 1997, mapping what each vendor needs, where the power will come from, and how it gets distributed safely across the site.

Our planning service exists because the most common event-day failure we see is electrical: one overloaded circuit taken down by a coffee urn nobody mentioned. A proper layout, done in advance, makes that a non-event.

What Electrical Layout Planning Covers

For each event we build a power plan that addresses:

The equipment itself comes from our own catalog — see generators and power distribution — so the plan and the hardware always match.

Planned Around the Site, Not Around Guesswork

Good electrical planning starts with the ground truth. Our site survey team checks what power actually exists at the venue, how far it is from where it is needed, and where cable runs will cross guest paths, driveways, or catering routes. From there we position generators and distribution so cables stay short, protected, and out of sight, and so a refueling visit never interrupts the program. Where venue rules, inspections, or permits apply, we plan the layout to meet the venue’s requirements and coordinate details with your venue contact or electrician.

Climate control deserves special mention in Houston: tent air conditioning is often the largest single load at an event, and it is the one guests notice first when it fails. We size power for climate control from the start rather than treating it as an afterthought.

One Vendor From Plan to Powered-Up

Because ACME supplies the tents, lighting, AV, climate control, and the power that runs them, the electrical plan is not a document handed between vendors — it is our own installation checklist. Crews place generators and distribution during setup, dress and protect cable runs, and verify every vendor drop before doors open. For full-scope coordination, this service is part of our event setup and management offering.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the loads. Lighting and a DJ may run on house power; add tent air conditioning or full catering and a generator is usually required. We inventory every load first, then recommend venue power, generators, or a combination.

We balance noise and fumes away from guests, keep cable runs as short as practical, and preserve access for refueling — all confirmed against the site survey so placement works with the real layout.

Yes. Climate control is often an event’s biggest electrical load, and we size generators and distribution for it from the beginning, along with lighting, AV, and catering.

Requirements vary by venue and jurisdiction. We plan layouts to meet the venue’s rules and coordinate specifics with your venue contact or licensed electrician where inspections or permits apply.
